Purpose:
To provide financial support to students from underserved and underrepresented communities in their pursuit of post-secondary education in a healthcare profession, with the goal of creating a more diverse and inclusive healthcare system that is reflective of Nova Scotian communities.

The QEII Foundation, with support from a bursary selection committee of community volunteers.

Eligibility
Criteria:
Please read and ensure you meet all requirements before applying.
To be considered, bursary applicants must meet ALL the following eligibility requirements at the time of application:
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or refugee with a valid study permit
- A resident of Nova Scotia (with a permanent mailing address in Nova Scotia)
- Identify as: African Nova Scotian/Black, Indigenous, Acadian or Francophone Nova Scotian, Racialized, Newcomer, immigrant or refugee, 2SLGBTQIA+, experiencing a physical, mental, intellectual, learning or sensory impairment (The Nova Scotia Accessibility Act defines disability as: “a physical, mental, intellectual, learning or sensory impairment, including an episodic disability that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders an individual’s full and effective participation in society.), or having intersectionality of these identities
- Accepted and enrolled in full or part-time studies for the 2026-2027 academic year (starting on or continuing through September 30, 2026), with a declared major in a healthcare field at a Canadian post-secondary institution that is recognized by Universities Canada,
in a healthcare program at Nova Scotia Community College or at a recognized healthcare technology institution

Process:
The applications of candidates who meet the above considerations will be forwarded to the selection committee. Applications are evaluated on several factors including financial need, educational/career goals and field of study, and reference letter.
