Are you a current African Nova Scotian college or university student? Consider joining PREP's Student Advisory Council.
The Opportunity
The PREP Academy is looking for 8-10 current college and university students to join our Study Advisory Council. Members must self-identify as African Nova Scotian. Members will have the chance to:
1. provide insight on how PREP can support, guide and assist students with accessing information, and navigating services and supports;
2. inform PREP’s college and university preparation programs for high school, college and university students
This is your opportunity to use your experiences to help impact the next generation of African Nova Scotian college and university students. We want to learn about your high school experience, your transition into college and university and explore your experiences in education and post-secondary institutions.
In addition to earning a $350 stipend, and in an effort to support career goals and aspirations, students will gain resume experience, build peer connections, obtain a professional headshot and access to a professional development LinkedIn workshop. Students will also be highlighted through PREP’s professional network for their leadership position.
The Commitment
The Advisory Council will meet three times between May 28 and July 30, 2022.
Students must be available to attend the first in-person council meeting, on Saturday May 28th from 1:00pm-5:00pm in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Assistance will be provided to support attendance.
The remaining council meetings will take place virtually. Students are required to commit and attend all three meetings.
