Novelee Buchan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created in memory of Novelee Buchan, who was a member of several gospel singing groups. She had numerous years of singing, both locally and abroad.  She was one of the lead performers of the CBC and Vision TV television production “Hallelujah”. She was a lead soloist with the Nova Scotia Mass Choir, and sang with the Winans, Cissy Houston, Mavis Staples, Gary Beals, Alfie Zappacosta, The Rankins, Jackie Richardson, Dutchie Mason, the Carson Downey Band, Jeremiah Sparks, to name a few, and also had the privilege of singing for the Queen of England! As well, Novelee acted with Danny Glover, Harrison Ford, The Trailer Park Boys and Louis Gossett Jr.  Novelee performed for audiences in Canada, the United States and internationally, as far away as Czechoslovakia. She performed in productions such as Jesus Christ Superstar, A Christmas Song, Drum, Dream Girls, and the Book of Negroes.  Her last musical performance was for the Lift Every Voice 2 – A Musical Showcase.  She was a passionate performer who put her heart and soul into every note.
