The Black Veterinary Association of Canada (BVAC), Veterinary professionals Instilling Black Excellence (VIBE) and their partners, VetStrategy and Vetalytix, are committed to building an inclusive and diverse veterinary community in Canada — community which supports and reflects the communities in which we live and serve. To attain this goal, the partnership between BVAC, VIBE, VetStrategy and Vetalytix will help to finance and support Black-identifying high school, college or university students who intend to apply for admission into veterinary medicine or veterinary technician programs. The financial assistance will be provided in the form of one-time bursary which will be awarded to individuals selected from the pool of applicants.

Three winners will be selected from applicants who are currently seeking admission to veterinary technician program or veterinary medicine program.

The first-place winner will receive a bursary of $1,000 the second winner will receive a bursary of $750 and the third, a bursary of $500.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled at or recently graduated from a Canadian high school, non-veterinary program in a college or university.
  • Demonstrate an enthusiasm for the profession and an intent to seek entry into a veterinary medicine or veterinary technician program.
  • Be a Black-identifying citizen or permanent resident of Canada.

BVAC and VIBE members and employees of VetStrategy and Animalytix, as well their immediate family members, are not eligible for the bursary.
